Our country is experiencing a rise in horrific hate crimes against Asian Americans since the start of the pandemic. Sadly, people in power fueled anti-Asian sentiment by blaming the virus’ spread on Asian communities. But this also isn’t the first time a new illness has led to racism and xenophobia.Â
